THE GIANT FRIENDSHIP BLANKET CHALLENGE

The Giant Friendship Blanket Challenge is our small charity project that we are very proud of!

It all started through the COVID lockdown with the aim of helping charities that were hit hard during the pandemic. The idea was to make granny squares, sew them together into beautiful baby blankets and donate to charities to help children in need. After raising the appeal amongst local knitting and crochet technicians, the response was outstanding, and the Giant Friendship Blanket started to grow.

Last year we managed to cover 63m2 in handcrafted baby blankets and were able to send 100 blankets paired up with a soft toy to 2 Preston charities - Safe Families and Safenet Lancashire, providing a Christmas gift to 100 displaced children and families in need. This year we would love to get 100m2, so as you can imagine every granny square counts.

Apart from supporting local charities, we have also donated 25 of our baby blankets to Ankara for Syrian Refugees and sent 25 blankets to the Ukraine
